Middle D is a problem for a lot of saxophones. It can be very sharp (10 to 20 cents) and can be "stuffy." To flatten it out you can hold the left hand pinky B or Bb key. You may also be able to flatten it a bit by changing your embouchure for that note (and the Eb too).Update (Jan-16-10): As a new feature there is now Sax on the Web Forum Portal Or you can go directly to the SOTW Forum The Sax on the Web article site is still there.831 posts · Joined 2008. #1 · Mar 8, 2010. I have been playing the tenor for about 2 years now, and I have recently becomed obsessed with getting a better sax. The one I have right now says "Accent" on the bell. The Yani Metal 7 Soprano piece is a great piece, very well made and easy to control from bottom to High F# & G. My favorite piece for soprano is a Selmer Super Session "I" which to me has a bigger sound, however, my second favorite is the Yani Metal 7.Dr G. The smallest change in the bore/ inner diameter/ wall thickness of a bow or neck can make a HUGE difference in how a sax sounds. Play two saxophones (well set up) from the late 1930's and make some notes on what you felt behind the horn. Then rebuild both horns with fresh resonator pads, and make more notes.Sax on the Web Forum. 3.3M posts 75.8K members Since 2003 A forum community dedicated to saxophone players and enthusiasts originally founded by Harri Rautiainen. To me the first modern sax would be the Selmer Mark 6/ Balanced Action (pretty much all modern saxophones are copies of either this or copies of Selmer's own Mark 6 copy, the Super Action 80).Even after doing the adjustment, I only have $300 in it so it should sell well for a student. datsaxman. 5781 posts · Joined 2005. #3 · Sep 28, 2017.
